Wales v RoW (F).
Today we played our second pre-over 60s World Cup tournament “warm up” friendly game versus a “Rest of the World XI” at the John Blanck Oval, Queensland.
The game started with the coin toss. Today the captain Mike Hayden lost the toss and the Rest of the World XI captain elected to bat first.
Just a quick update on the injuries. Tour captain Richard Harris is still unwell, Mike Lloyd is struggling with a hamstring pull and Mike Holcombe is nearly ready to play after his calf strain.
The Rest of the World XI team batted first and set a target of 161 off their 40 overs. The game was used to give all the playing squad members a runout.
Our bowlers again worked hard. In this game, 4 players had 2 wickets each. Gareth Edwards excelled with 2 for 6 off 5 overs, Stuart Carpenter 2 for 16 off 3 overs, Paul Webb 2 for 18 off 4 overs and Aamir Ikram 2 for 29 off 7 overs.
There were 2 run-outs, Stephen Durston and Mike Hayden and both our quality keepers Hugh Quick and Jimmy Watkins had stumpings. A good team “fielding” workout was had by all.
Wales finished on 141 after our 40 overs. The industrious Paul Bennett was out on 39 and the hardworking Paul Webb finished on 35. A big thank you to Judith for scoring and Arthur for umpiring.
