WELCOME

FROM THE ORGANISING COMMITTEE

Over60s Cricket World Cup

On behalf of Queensland Veterans Cricket and the CWC Organising Committee, I would like to welcome all players, partners, and officials from the 12 visiting teams to the inaugural Over 60’s Cricket World Cup.

Many visiting countries have faced difficulties in getting squads together due to local catastrophes, COVID, cost of travel and exchange rates around the world. Disappointingly, England could not participate, and I would like to thank Colin Walters who has organised a Rest of the World side to enable some English players to participate. Thanks also to all team contacts.  Your help and support is appreciated.

The Sunshine Coast Council has provided tremendous support for this event. We look forward to showcasing what the Sunshine Coast has to offer with beautiful beaches, tourist attractions, cafés, restaurants, and its nightlife. I am sure that you will enjoy your stay and take home many pleasant memories.

Thank you to the local clubs and businesses for supporting us as well as the three cricket clubs at Maroochydore, Caloundra, and Yandina for hosting all the games, Alexandra Headlands Surf Life Saving Club and NightQuarter for hosting our major functions.

I acknowledge the wonderful support and assistance that QVC has received from QLD Cricket over the past few years, Rob Sims at Veterans Cricket Australia, and Scott Tutton from Cricket Australia. A huge thank you to Harry Solomons from Kingsgrove Sports for his continued generous sponsorship.

Finally I would like to thank Michael Rattenbury for the enormous amount of work he has put into the organisation of the World Cup, ably supported by Kerry Emery, Greg Searle, Nick Taylor and Ross Madsen. These are the people that have made this tournament happen.

I hope we have two weeks of beautiful, sunny weather, a lot of great cricket and camaraderie, and remember the Veterans Cricket motto. “Cricket – A sport for life and a Lifetime of Friendships”

I wish you all the very best of health, good luck, and enjoyment at the 2022 Over 60’s Cricket World Cup.

Meet the Team

This one has been a long time coming due to COVID. The committee first met in late 2018 and a lot of work was done that needed to be shelved. However it did lay the foundations and the current committee picked up the ball and completed the task.
