Match Report Practice Match Vs New Zealand played at Caloundra from David Head.
After being sent in, Allan Bougoure took 12 off the first over and we were looking at a score of 400 plus, but the Kiwi bowlers found their line and length and reigned us in to steady the scoring rate down. Allan retired on 31 from 44 balls. Some quick lower order scoring from Glenn Richardson (29 retired off 43), Peter Judd (25 retired off 21) and Bruce Mackie (Not Out 27 off 19) gave us a respectable score of 3/181 off our 45 overs. Andrew Nuttall was the best of the New Zealand bowlers taking 1 for 2 off his 5 overs.
Peter Judd got us off to a great start with a very sharp runout of one of the openers for a Diamond Duck in the first over. Mark Trafford-Walker and Tim Pellen bowled exceptionally well, Mark taking 2 for 12 off his 5 overs and Tim 1 for 10, to have the Kiwis in all sorts of trouble at 4 for 22 off 10 overs.
Wickets continued to fall steadily, with New Zealand all out for 96. Wickets were shared amongst the Australian Bowlers with Bruce Mackie 2/19, Richard Johnston 2/18, Peter Jensen 2/16. Russell Drake was the only New Zealand player to make double figures with 55.
